The Food and Drug Administration announced on Tuesday that some batches of MadeGood granola bars are being recalled because they might contain metal fragments, which could be harmful if eaten. Riverside Natural Foods, the company behind MadeGood, decided to recall specific batches made between January and November 2024 after getting reports of small, flat brush bristles in the bars.

The company mentioned that it’s very unlikely metal pieces are actually in the products. MadeGood only received seven complaints amid hundreds of millions of bars sold in the U.S., Canada, and other countries. Fortunately, no injuries have been linked to the recalled bars.

During the recall investigation, Riverside identified the metal contamination’s source as a specific issue in the manufacturing process, which has since been corrected. If you have any of these recalled granola bars at home, MadeGood advises returning them to the store where they were bought for a full refund. If you’ve already eaten the bars, there’s no need to worry, as the risk of metal contamination is considered low.
